MAB’s Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives in Mortgage Brokering

Commitment to Equal Opportunity
MAB (Mortgage Advice Bureau) has established a clear commitment to equal opportunity in employment, regardless of race, creed, colour, nationality, gender, age, marital status, sexual orientation, religion, or disability.

This is embedded in their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies, which guide recruitment, workplace culture, and customer service.

Inclusive Workplace Design
MAB transformed its administrative centre to support a more inclusive and flexible working environment.

The new activity-based working concept includes focus pods, quiet areas, collaborative zones, and wellness spaces for prayer, nursing, or meditation. This approach accommodates neurodiverse needs and encourages wellbeing for all employees.

Leadership and Development Programs
MAB has implemented a mentoring programme to support personal and career development for all staff.

The company also supports aspiring and current managers through a Women in Leadership Apprenticeship and encourages participation in the Women’s Leaders Association, directly addressing the gender pay gap and promoting female leadership

Enhanced Communication and Engagement
Initiatives such as ‘Breakfast with the CEO’ break down communication barriers and foster open dialogue across all levels of the business.

MAB has also revamped its induction programme and invested in internal communications to ensure employees feel valued and heard.

Recruitment and Advancement
MAB reviews recruitment processes to remove barriers for women, LGBTQ+, ethnic minorities, and disabled people.

The company actively seeks diverse talent and encourages a “culture add” rather than just “culture fit,” ensuring new hires bring unique skills and perspectives.

Recognition and Awards
MAB’s efforts have been recognised externally, including winning the Best Inclusive Culture award at the Barclays UK Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Awards 2024, and more recently, the 2025 Mortgage Strategy Awards,  highlighting the impact and visibility of its inclusive culture.

Ongoing Policy Enhancement
MAB continues to develop and implement DEI-related policies and ESG standards, ensuring that diversity and inclusion remain a strategic priority.

This includes compliance with regulatory requirements such as the FCA’s Consumer Duty, which mandates consideration of customers’ diverse needs and characteristics.

5* Review:
New Build Team

My experience with Mortgage Advice Bureau has been fantastic!

As a first-time buyer, I was nervous about the process, but Sean Singh, Erin Brown, Jack Wilson, and Alyson Robertson have all made everything so much easier.

They’ve all been incredibly friendly, informative, and supportive throughout.

Every question I had—no matter how small—was answered quickly and clearly, and I’ve always felt genuinely listened to.

The team’s knowledge and reassurance have made a world of difference.

I feel totally confident moving forward thanks to this wonderful team. I would highly recommend the Mortgage Advice Bureau, and especially Sean, Erin, Jack, and Alyson, to anyone starting their home-buying journey!
